The installation of cutting blades requires static balancing

Jul 12, 2023

After installing the cutting blade on the flange, it must be statically balanced. Static balance is to ensure that the cutting blade is aligned with its rotation. The specific static balance method is to place the flange on the spindle and then on the balance frame guide rail. If it is not balanced, the heavier part of the cutting blade will always turn downwards, move the balance block position inside the annular tip of the flange end face, and balance the center of the cutting blade repeatedly until the cutting blade can remain stationary at any position on the guide rail. At this point, the cutting blade reaches static balance. After installing a new cutting blade for the first static balance, install a grinding machine and use a diamond pen to trim the shape of the cutting blade. Then, remove the cutting blade and perform another static balance before installation and use. Two static balances before and after can ensure better use of the cutting blade.
If static balance is not carried out, it will cause vibration of the cutting blade during high-speed rotation, which may affect the machining results in light cases, and may cause fracture of the cutting blade and damage to the machine tool in severe cases. Therefore, static balance is required for the installation of the cutting blade.
