Correct use of cutting wheel

Dec 17, 2024

1. Choose the right cutting wheel
Choose the right cutting wheel according to the type, thickness, hardness and other factors of the material to be cut. For example, if it is cutting glass, you may need to choose a diamond wheel for cutting LCD glass with high precision requirements; if it is cutting ordinary architectural glass, an alloy wheel may be able to meet the needs. For metal cutting, if you are cutting alloy steel with higher hardness, you may need to choose a grinding wheel with superhard abrasives; if you are cutting softer aluminum materials, a grinding wheel with ordinary abrasives may be suitable. At the same time, you should also consider whether the size of the cutting wheel matches the cutting equipment, such as the outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness and other parameters of the grinding wheel must meet the installation requirements of the cutting equipment.

2. Check the status of the cutting wheel
Before using the cutting wheel, you need to check whether it has defects such as damage and cracks. For grinding wheel cutting discs, check whether the abrasive is evenly distributed and whether the edge is flat. If it is a knife wheel, check whether the blade is sharp and whether there are gaps. If any problems are found in the cutting wheel, it should not be used to avoid safety accidents or affect the cutting quality during the cutting process.

3. Installation and debugging
Install the cutting wheel correctly on the cutting equipment and operate according to the instructions of the equipment. For example, when installing the grinding wheel, make sure that the grinding wheel is firmly installed and the fixing nut is tightened. For the cutter wheel, install it in the correct position and adjust the height. After installation, debugging is required. For example, for the glass cutting cutter wheel, adjust the pressure of the cutter holder so that it can roll smoothly on the glass and draw the cutting line; for the grinding wheel cutting equipment, adjust the parameters such as the rotation speed of the grinding wheel to adapt to different cutting requirements.

4. Prepare protective equipment
The cutting operation may produce flying debris, dust, etc. In order to protect the safety of the operator, comprehensive protective equipment needs to be worn. Including goggles to prevent debris from splashing into the eyes; gloves to protect the hands from injury; masks to prevent inhalation of dust. If you are cutting larger workpieces or working in a noisy environment, you may also need to wear protective equipment such as earplugs.
