Diamond Grinding Wheel Use and Maintenance

Apr 09, 2026

Daily maintenance is key to extending the lifespan of diamond grinding wheels. Proper cleaning, storage, and regular inspection are essential to prevent damage.

First, cleaning: After grinding operations, promptly clean grinding debris from the wheel surface. This can be done by blowing with compressed air or cleaning with a brush to prevent debris from clogging the wheel's orifices, affecting grinding efficiency and heat dissipation. If wet grinding is used, remove any residual cutting fluid from the wheel surface to prevent rust and bonding agent aging.

Second, proper storage: When not in use, diamond grinding wheels should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated, and flat environment, avoiding moisture, high temperatures, and direct sunlight to prevent moisture absorption and deformation. Store them upright, avoiding flat laying or stacking to prevent breakage under pressure. Different types and sizes of grinding wheels should be stored separately and clearly labeled to avoid confusion.

Third, regular inspection: Regularly check the wear of the grinding wheel. If the grinding wheel is severely worn, cracked, or chipped, it must be replaced in time and its continued use is strictly prohibited. At the same time, check the clamping of the grinding wheel. If it is found to be loose, tighten it in time to avoid safety hazards during operation.
